Stop chasing roommates on Venmo.

Margent is a budget app for college students. It splits the bill with your friends and counts only what you actually owe, so your budget reflects your money and not the group tab.

One-tap Venmo integration

Your budget only counts what's yours.

When Riley owes you $129 from the Costco run, Margent counts just your $129 against your grocery budget. The other $259 becomes a receivable it tracks until Riley pays you back.

Accurate budgets, always

Only your share counts against your budget. The rest is a tracked receivable until it’s paid back.

Venmo in one tap

Send a Venmo request instantly, with the amount and note already filled in.

Precision splits

Split equally, by custom amounts, or item by item. Adjust shares down to the cent.

Splits settle themselves.

Other apps make you keep a ledger and remember to mark things paid. Margent watches your bank, so when a friend Venmos you back, the split clears itself.

1

You split. They get a request.

Tap Split on any transaction, pick a friend, send. Margent sends them a Venmo request with the amount and note prefilled.

2

They Venmo you back.

No new app for them to download, no account to create. They just Venmo you like normal, usually within a day or two.

3

Margent clears the split.

When the Venmo hits your bank, Margent matches it and clears the split — automatically when it’s sure, one tap when it’s not.

Here's what lands on your phone.

Founder

Why I Built This

I was the one with the Costco card in my friend group. I had three separate spreadsheets: one for my personal budget, one for splitting with roommates, and one for planning ahead. They never talked to each other. Every month I'd spend an hour trying to reconcile them and still didn't trust any of the numbers.

So I built the thing that should have existed. I use it every day, and I haven't found a product I'd switch to.
